Design Engineer Specials (m/f/x)
What's the role?
The Specials Design Engineer is responsible for designing, calculating and documenting special product solutions to complement the Hilti’s Fastening & Protection Business Area (F&P BA) product range as needed in selected projects. This can include custom designed products or selecting “catalogue” items from different vendors. The candidate is responsible for driving the specials design competence build up by acting as a sparring partner (buddy concept) for the respective design engineers in regional project management offices (PMOs).

What does the role involve?
-Develops, calculates & designs special products in order to complement BA F&P’s product range based on the achieved certifications of the respective Business Unit.
-Applies design to cost / needs practices when developing specials.
-Conducting of (Finite Element Analysis) FEA investigations.
-Creates handling instructions for special products designed.
-Defines (together with quality management) QE & QN procedures (e.g. test specifications, documentation requirements etc.) for developed special products and coordinates internal or external testing.
-Releases product specials based on Hilti process landscape.
-Responsible for the complete detail engineering, performance to specification of designed product.
-Interacts with BU to ensure up to date know-how on product development.
Accountability:
-Product specification, development and qualification of specials (BA F&P’s portfolio based on achieved certifications).
-Documentation of specials development according to Product portfolio management (PPM) process.

What you need is:
- You hold an Engineering Degree (Masters preferred) with relevant knowledge in product development
- Strong Technical understanding with excellent communication & networking skills
- You have strong interpersonal skills to successfully perform in a global matrix environment, excellent stakeholder management skills and experience in cross functional teams
- Your working style is proactive, and you have a “getting-things-done” approach
- Ideally you have a proven track record in Finite element methods & simulation software
- You are fluent in English. Fluency in additional languages are an asset
