Intern - Battery technology
What's the role?
Contributing in developing the latest generation of the high-power lithium ion battery packs. You will experience working at HILTI as part of our battery team and you will be actively involved in our research projects with a special focus on safety and thermal performances of the Hilti lithium ion battery packs.
Start date (from February 2021) is flexible to the student's availability, duration for at least 6 months.

What does the role involve?
As intern you’ll be part of our interdisciplinary battery team, working on the latest lithium ion battery technology. You’ll work closely with our experts for investigating and simulating the thermal performances of the Hilti lithium ions battery packs.
Your key responsibilities involve 3D FEM/CFD thermal simulations, the analysis of the results and the comparison with experimental data from laboratory test. In addition, you will do hands-on work in our lab facilities performing electro-thermal measurements on cells and battery packs as well as analysis of the recorded data.

What you need is:
- Currently studying Electrical Engineering or similar (ideally Master student)
- Excellent skills in FEM/CFD simulations (Ansys/ Fluent preferably and/or Comsol)
- Experience in data analysis and programming (Matlab and/or Python)
- Experience in lab work and electrical testing, preferably with batteries
- Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English and/or German
- Enthusiasm of being part of an international team
- A proactive approach and self-reliant personality
