What's the role?

Numerical simulation plays an important role for innovative fastening products development. The simulation of anchoring system to concrete under static/dynamic loading is a challenging topic. Your role in the project is to simulate the loading process of anchors in concrete under different loading conditions with the aim of supporting innovative mechanical anchors development.

Start date is flexible to the student's availability, duration for at least 6 months

What does the role involve?

As intern in our department you’ll be part of the project on innovative mechanical anchors development. You’ll work closely with our experts to develop suitable simulation tools to be able to simulate the setting and loading processes of mechanical anchors in concrete under static and dynamic loading, and to use them for parameter study with the aim of optimizing the mechanical anchor design.

Your key responsibilities will be to give simulation support on innovative mechanical anchor development, which includes the simulation tools development, the parameter study, and to give suggestions on innovative anchor design based on simulation. Meanwhile some experiments will be conducted as well.

Since more than 20 years Hilti drives product innovation supported by numerical simulation. To do so we develop and qualify simulation methods using almost all known solving techniques. What you need is:

  • Master`s student in civil/mechanical engineering (or comparable)
  • Some experience with software on numerical simulation
  • Passion for innovation and product development
  • Good skills in English both writing and speaking
  • Enthusiasm to learn and drive to succeed
