What's the role?

We are looking for an ambitious engineer who would like to be a part of our interdisciplinary research and technology team to work on the next generation of high-power battery technologies. With your broad understanding in battery technology you will evaluate and asses new technologies and contribute to develop the next generation of high-power battery solutions. With your broad understanding in battery technology you will work in various projects to demonstrate feasibility of new ideas and further develop technologies towards implementation for our applications.

What does the role involve?

In this challenging position, you are responsible for scouting and evaluating innovative cell technologies for our battery-powered systems. You will maintain and grow a diverse partner network and work together with our partners to improve our understanding and to drive selected technologies to the proof of concept level.

In addition, you support in developing our technology roadmap in strong alignment with your colleagues in research and development.
Leading your own projects as well as internal consulting and supporting our development department through your expertise in battery technology are also part of your tasks.

As part of an interdisciplinary team, you will work closely together with your colleagues from research and product development to improve our cordless systems.

Based on your experience in battery and cell technology, you deliver valuable contributions to the fields of battery management, operating strategies, system design and battery modelling and simulation. You have the unique opportunity to get in close contact with all aspects of battery technology, starting at basic cell technology topics, up to system topics on pack and charger level.

What you need is:

  • Completed degree (Diploma, Master, PhD) in chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, or a similar engineering discipline
  • A PhD in a battery relevant field and at least 2 years of relevant working experience, or at least 5 years of relevant working experience
  • A high level of expertise in Li-Ion cell technology (testing, modeling, cell assembly)
  • Experience in electrochemical simulations and working at a glove box
  • Very good networking, team and communication skills in an international environment
  • Good general understanding of electrical systems (motor, motor electronics)
  • Curiosity, ambition and a high level of goal orientation
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and willingness to travel abroad
